The highlight of this summer’s music scene is an overwhelming desire to party, featuring some illustrious comebacks (Beyoncé‘ and Black Eyed Peas) and new releases, particularly in the dance music scene. This first summer, following two years of restrictions imposed by the Covid emergency, is characterised by a desire to have fun, which is reflected in the songs that are currently topping the charts. Summer 2022 Songs: the catchiest tunes, dance tracks, Italian and international hits

Among the top names, once again in 2022, are the Boomdabash, which, following its success in the summer of 2021, Mohicans (voiced by Baby K.) Here they are with Tropicana (sung by Annalisa). If this year Takagi and Ketra, another successful pairing from recent seasons (remember Shimmy Shimmy?) have hit a snag (Bubble, by thasup and Salmo) hasn’t gone down as well as we’ve come to expect; the one that never puts a foot wrong is the “usual” one” Fedez, featuring Mara Sattei and Tananai: “La Dolce Vita”. And also the beautiful and talented Elodie she has lived up to her reputation: with Tribal, has been getting us dancing like crazy ever since the start of the summer. And also Myss Keta with “All hell breaks loose” proved to be one of the hits of the summer, thanks in part to the sampling of Edoardo Vianello’s voice, taken from the 1961 song “Il Capello”. This move is somewhat reminiscent of the one carried out last year by the Goodboys featuring ‘Bongo Cha cha Cha’ (an original song by Caterina Valente from 1960).

Finally, still on the subject of Italian songs, here’s a track that’s doing really well, although it’s quite different from the ones mentioned above: Aarrived in August, “A Girl” by Malika Ayane, with her slightly retro and sophisticated sound, is perfect for these hot days: it’s not a hit in the strict sense of the word, but, as they say… it’s a pleasure to listen to.

INTERNATIONAL HITS: FROM THE BLACK EYED PEAS TO MANESKIN

Turning to international music, let’s mention a “regular” among the hits of recent years, which has, however, been absent for some time: the great Beyoncé with Break my soul, a track with a club-style sound – sophisticated, with a touch of ’vintage style“ – and featuring the Houston-born singer’s superb voice, which really adds something special.
Also of interest About Damn Time by Lizzo (which we’ve been carrying around since spring, but we’re not tired of it yet – quite the opposite, in fact!) e Harry Styles, which, in the wake of “As it was”, has been very well received for his latest work, “Late-Night Chit-Chat”. Maneskin’s latest single, Supermodel, is proving hugely popular in Italy – and beyond: it has topped Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, not to mention the staggering number of streams on Spotify: 2,500,000 in the first two days after its release. Well, these Italian lads have now become global icons of pop-rock music (don’t forget to check out our rock playlist!). A bit of a departure from his usual dance music, however, Calvin Harris, who, with the help of Halsey, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell, has released “Stay With Me”, brimming with funky vibes and nods to the 70s, a brilliant, danceable track – even if it’s not exactly a floor-filler, unlike the songs we’ll be mentioning below. Fresh from their success last summer, the Black Eyed Peas, after “Go for it!” (set to a rhythm inspired by reggaeton) in the summer of 2022, in collaboration with David Guetta and Shakira hit the mark with “Don’t You Worry”, with a more electronic sound, closely reminiscent of their biggest hit from 10 years ago: “I Gotta Feeling”. This song paves the way for dance music, which has produced quite a few quality hits so far this summer of 2022.

SUMMER 2022 DANCE TRACKS TO DANCE TO: FROM “FERRARI” TO KUNGS

Among the leading figures – not the usual suspects Bob Sinclar and Purple Disco Machine, but names less familiar to the general public such as James Hype, “Ferrari”, and Raffa Fl, and his “Rhythm”, characterised by Latin-inspired sounds (we’ve been playing it since spring, but it’s still going strong). And speaking of Latin rhythms – though they’re less prevalent than in previous years – we’d like to highlight John Summit and “Dance” (a great club record with a “caliente” sound). Another key figure, Kungs, with People, although not quite as big a hit as last year’s “Never Going Home”. Highly appreciated by fans of 90s dance music, the summer track by Paskman feat. Rafa Villalba “Chiquetere” a really well-done cover of the hit that David Morales had made famous in its original version back in 1994. It’s another cover of an “old” track (Papi chulo, 2003), the one by Hugel (sung by Lorna herself, with Jenn Morel); the title, however, changes from *Papi Chulo* to Tamo Loco. This one is also very popular for dancing.
