From the Coachella Festival to your party?

After two years, one of the coolest music festivals is finally back: the Coachella. At the Empire Polo Club in Indio (California), a huge number of artists performed on the various stages and via live stream on the festival’s official channel. Here at DJ4, we’ll try to make sense of this vast musical “mare magnum”, focusing, above all, on the artists who have brought the DJ4 parties to life and will continue to do so, those who, over the years, have given us hits that are essential for a a successful party. Justin Bieber He took to the stage with Daniel Caesar for their performance of ‘Peaches’. A remixed version of this track was also released in 2021 – a very successful one, in our opinion – featuring Ludacris, Usher and Snoop Dogg.
As for Latin music, we’d like to highlight Anitta’s performance of ‘Envolver’, the track of the moment. Anitta also had a surprise in store for us when, to the tune of ‘Onda diferente’, she was joined on stage by Snoop Dogg, to the delight of the audience.
And of course, we couldn’t leave out the reggaeton by Karol G: ‘Tusa’, featuring Nicki Minaj, was a massive hit in Italy in 2020. This year, Karol G, together with Becky G, released ‘Mamiii’ – a powerful single with meaningful lyrics that explore a destructive relationship, but also the strength to move on from it.

PLENTY OF HOUSE AND ELECTRONIC MUSIC TO DANCE TO (THE RETURN OF THE SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA!)
She hasn’t put a foot wrong in recent years: *In The Dark* (with Sophie and the Giants) in 2022, *Dopamine* and *Fireworks* in 2021, and *Hypnotized* in 2020 – to name just a few of her latest hits Purple Disco Machine. How could he possibly have been missing from the Coachella stage?

Guy and Howard, a talented pair of brothers best known as, were on hand to fill the Empire Polo Club with electronic music and deep sounds Disclosure. Disclosure have performed several times on the Coachella stage: their performance a few years ago was unforgettable, featuring the beautiful ‘Latch’ – a 2012 hit born out of their collaboration with Sam Smith and the first single from the album *Settle*, which brought them to the attention of the wider public. This time, they were joined by Khalid for ‘Know Your Worth’.
To stay on the “deep” theme, we’d also like to highlight the performance by Black Coffee, a South African DJ and producer whom you’ll no doubt remember for ‘Drive’, a track born out of his collaboration with David Guetta in 2018.
The Sahara stage also featured tech-house by Dom Dolla. Among Dom Dolla’s output, ‘Take It’ and ‘San Francisco’ are certainly worth mentioning; these are two undeniably remarkable tracks that are always highly appreciated by fans of the genre.
The first “three-day” stretch of Coachella (the festival is held over two consecutive weekends, totalling six days) then drew to a close with the performance we’d been most looking forward to: “Swedish House Mafia x The Weeknd”. The performance was divided into two parts, the first dedicated to Swedish House Mafia’s hits and the second to The Weeknd’s hits. Among the many hits by the Swedish house supergroup (which reunited in 2019 for a tour, years after splitting up), we’d like to mention two in particular: ‘Can U Feel It’ from the 2022 album *Paradise Again* and the ever-captivating ‘Don’t You Worry Child’, even though exactly a decade has now passed since its release.
‘Moth to Flame’, on the other hand, is one of the tracks born out of the collaboration between Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd, also taken from the album *Paradise Again*, which has enjoyed great success in recent months.

He’s also returned to the Coachella stage Stromae confirming, if confirmation were still needed, his highly original talent, with new releases (L’enfer, a challenging and intense track released this year) and old hits (Alors On Danse, above all). We also always like to mention Stromae’s ‘Santé’, a cheerful song with a catchy beat dedicated to all those working – often behind the scenes – in the entertainment and events industry.
As for house music, Fatboy Slim, Duck Sauce and Peggy Gou also performed over the second weekend
From Duck Sauce (who doesn’t remember their 2010 track “Barbra Streisand”?) we’d like to highlight their brand-new track “Put The Sauce On It”, taken from the album of the same name, which also features ‘Ask Me’, a funky house track featuring a vocal sample from Supreme Jubilees’ ‘Do You Believe’, which was released back in 2021 alongside the more upbeat ‘Mesmerize’.
By Peggy Gou, a South Korean DJ and producer who has quickly become a leading figure on the dance scene; as well as her recent track ‘I Go’, we cannot fail to mention the captivating ‘Starry Night’, released in the summer of 2019 but still enjoying fresh success (partly thanks to the pandemic, which forced the world of nightclubs and music festivals to take a break).
And what about Fatboy Slim? A veteran of the British house music scene (we’d at least like to mention Rockafeller Skank) who delivered a DJ set that alternated between his own tracks and records by other DJs: for example, the relatively unknown “Ride it” by Lexa Hill & The Young Punx, which, when played by him… well, sent the crowd wild.

MANESKIN: A HIT AT COACHELLA 2022
Finally, we certainly couldn’t forget the spectacle of the Maneskin!
Fresh from a string of successes that has seen them perform on prestigious international stages, Maneskin let loose with a rousing performance: ‘Zitti e Buoni’ (the song that won the Sanremo Festival and Eurovision 2021), ‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’ (of which they have also recorded a version with the great Iggy Pop), ‘Mammamia’, and then their cover of ‘Beggin’ (by The Four Seasons), which is also hugely popular abroad, before finishing with ‘Dance on Gasoline’, released on 9 April and dedicated to Ukraine.
