Sanremo Festival 2021: ideas for your next party with DJ4

ELODIE’S INTERNATIONAL TOUCH – A decidedly unusual edition of the Sanremo Festival. Some have called it the “edition of resilience” at a time when theatres, live music and cinemas are going through a truly difficult period. The 71st Sanremo Festival was a surreal affair, primarily due to the absence of an audience in the theatre and outside it, as well as the lack of celebrity red carpets and ‘spontaneous’ interviews in every corner of the town of Sanremo. 

Another notable absence was that of the big international stars, who are often anticipated even more than the competing singers; what helped us feel the absence of the international stars a little less was the top-class performance by Elodie. In our view, his is the most interesting and captivating performance of the Festival. 

Nothing is left to chance. A performance, in the style of Beyoncé, with a stage presence that is every bit as impressive as the performances of major stars at international events such as, for example, the half-time show at the Super Bowl… but it was also a personal performance, carefully conceived and tailored to her own characteristics, as Elodie herself pointed out; she also moved the audience with a monologue – both profound and spontaneous – about the difficulties she has faced in her life. 

JAZZ IN SANREMO AND… DJ SETS + SAXOPHONE FOR YOUR PARTIES – On the Ariston stage, Elodie performed a lively, high-energy medley paying tribute to Italian music, but also delivered an intimate moment of the highest musical calibre with her rendition of “Mai così” with pianist Mauro Tre, who believed in her right from the start and encouraged her to keep going. “With him, I discovered that jazz isn’t snobbish,” said this incredibly talented artist, whom we can certainly describe as multifaceted. 

We are particularly grateful to Elodie for this sophisticated performance, because we love jazz and, in fact, one of our projects is inextricably linked to this musical genre. For cool aperitifs and “polished” house music evenings, our DJ sets are accompanied by the saxophone; our saxophonists are renowned jazz musicians, with whom we have put together some DJ sets that we’d like to give you a taste of HERE  

MANESKIN AND ROCK FESTIVALS – But let’s get back to the competition… This year’s Sanremo will go down in history not only because it was the Festival held during the pandemic, but also because it was the Sanremo that cemented the status of Italian rock. In fact, the winners were the Maneskin with “Keep quiet and behave” A track that, simply by being performed at Sanremo, puts rock on the map … and the victory marks a real turning point. For us at DJ4, “Zitti e buoni” is a brilliant new release that gives us the chance to remind you that we also organise private parties for rock fans. HERE Here’s a taste of what we can do… Rock your party! (with a nod to Italian rock, too).

JOVANOTTI’S “RETURN TO THE FESTIVAL” – On the cover night, we were particularly impressed by Fulminacci’s performance with Valerio Lundini and the trumpeter Roy Paci in “I’m thinking positively” by Jovanotti, taken directly from the album *Lorenzo 1994*. In our view, this is a successful, funky reinterpretation – albeit different from the original – of one of the most iconic hits by an artist who is truly much loved at our parties. Alongside very romantic and hugely successful tracks, he has also given us songs brimming with energy, perfect for creating moments of togetherness and engagement. The same goes for “Ragazzo fortunato” (which, on the cover night, was performed by Random and The Colors – though, to be honest, in this case, the result was questionable to say the least… Lorenzo’s original, on the other hand, is ‘legendary’).

FROM THE ARISTON TO THE NIGHTCLUB – And to round things off… a glimpse into the future. Experience has taught us that, in the days following the Festival, there’s a proliferation of dance remixes of the Ariston hits, bringing some of the tracks to the dance floor (in the hope that we’ll soon be able to dance again…). A recent example was the version by the Emilian DJ Benny Benassi of Francesco Gabbani’s ‘Occidentali’s Karma’. Do you remember it?

And this year, you can bet on it, it’ll be “The origins of your colour” by Irama to be remixed by a top DJ and producer (perhaps Benny Benassi?) to get us dancing like crazy, although, it has to be said, even in its original version, the song by Irama “It looks promising” and it’s already off to a flying start.
