Once again this year, we were contacted by the online newspaper “The Sussidiario” to take stock of the year: the “essence” of the last 12 months can be summed up in this phrase: “a tribute to the 90s”. Hits such as ‘The Rhythm of the Night’ by Corona, from 1993, was chosen by the Black Eyed Peas for their global hit “Ritmo”, in true reggaeton style. And one of 1994’s catchiest hits, ‘Be My Lover’ by La Bouche, has also been reimagined by Achille Lauro in his track ‘1990’, which reprises the chorus “La da da dee da da da da”. But references to the 1990s have also made their mark on the world of hip hop: remember
The rapper Snow, who sang Informer 20 years ago? “Take it easy”Daddy Yankee’s “” picks up on the riff and adapts it to the current context, which is dominated by Latin influences. But in this article for Il Sussidiario, we’ll be looking not only at this ’revival“ of the 1990s but also at the hits that have defined the summer, such as ”Senorita’ by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, ‘Que Calor’ by Major Lazer, and the phenomenon that is Billie Eilish, who boasts 50 million followers on Instagram; her debut album *When We All Sleep, Where Do We Go?* catapulted her into the pantheon of international music, and with Tiesto’s remix of *Bad Guy*, she got the whole world dancing.
In our ’All the Best“ round-up for 2019, we couldn’t possibly overlook the major hits that are still with us as the year draws to a close, Dance Monkey ‘Don’t Start Now’ by Tones and I and Dua Lipa, with its distinct 1970s vibe.
And, speaking of dance music, let’s mention: Dayvi and his Dance With Me, ‘Fisher You Little Beauty’, ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ by the Italian production trio Meduza, and ‘AdRiton x Oliver Heldens’ with ‘Turn Me On’. And these are just a few of the tracks we analyse in the article written for *Il Sussidiario*.
And what about here at home? We don’t want to give too much away… but we’ll certainly be mentioning the summer hits of 2019 by Takagi & Ketra and ‘Playa’ by Baby K.
