Friends of DJ4, right here in November, the first chill in the air is starting to be felt… autumn has arrived (perhaps a little late…) and, with the change of season, here’s DJ4’s music update, right on schedule: we’d like to bring you up to date on what the latest releases which are proving most popular at private parties and in nightspots, based on what we’re seeing at the moment, a time when there are particularly lots of graduation parties and 18th birthday celebrations. Let’s start with an artist who, in our view, certainly stands out for his originality. This is Andres Kõpper, known by his stage name NOËP, a DJ and producer from Tallinn. His signature style is blending electro-pop with a singer-songwriter sensibility. We’d like to share this beautiful track with you screw this up.
Anyone who loves Black Eyed Peas They will have to take a leap of faith and plunge into a completely new imaginary world as expressed by their RHYTHM (Bad Boys For Life). It is an Afro-reggaeton reworking of a massive hit from the 90s, ‘The Rhythm of the Night’ by Corona. The collaboration with reggaeton superstar J Balvin has been a huge success. We’re playing it regularly and it’s always a big hit!
Speaking of the 90s, here comes another version of… in this incredibly exciting musical autumn: Pump it Up (The Black & White Brothers – Pump It Up 1996). Many will remember Danzel’s hugely popular version from 2004. This time, however, it’s a truly unique artist – and one we at DJ4 particularly appreciate: Endor a producer from Brighton who, with “his” Pump it Up It was a hit this summer in Ibiza (it featured in the top ten of Shazam’s Ibiza Dance Chart), but it’s still going strong even now in the autumn months.
Let’s leave the 90s behind and discover a hit that went truly viral in Italy – and beyond. We’re talking about Dance Monkey (Tones and i). Since its release this summer, it has been storming the international charts: it has been a huge hit not only in Australia (the home country of Toni Watson, aka Tones and I) but also in many European countries, particularly in the United Kingdom, where it reached the top of the Official UK Singles Chart. And now, it’s also taking Italy by storm.
We simply must not fail to recommend the splendid remix signed Samuele Sartini of Circles by Post Malone (Samuele Sartini, Jonk & Spook ReTouch). Absolutely brilliant in our local clubs!! A classy set that’s a must at DJ4 parties.
“Recently, I’ve really been enjoying listening to songs from the ’70s and ’80s,” he said Heldens (as reported in a Billboard article dated 12 September) and the new hit Turn me On It confirms this perfectly. What could be more iconic of the 1980s than the synth riff from Yazoo’s ’Don’t Go“ (1982)? In ‘Turn Me On’, it’s sampled with real finesse and fits perfectly into this disco-house track, which is further enhanced, among other things, by Vula’s warm vocals. Staying on the subject of dance music… “Dance With Me” by Colombian producers Dayvi and Víctor Cárdenas, a catchy blend of Latin and dance music, featuring a really “energetic” trumpet riff, simply has to be included in this “snapshot” of the current hits, with over 10 million views on YouTube… and billions of people dancing to it in nightclubs. Incidentally, just in the last few weeks Jennifer Lopez has reinvented this hit (which, incidentally, is very recent), enriching it with a very successful vocal part, taking this hit to an even higher level! Latin-inspired sounds, in this case even more pronounced and verging on reggaeton, for Major Lazer (a project launched in 2008 by DJ and producer Diplo), featuring Que Calor, in collaboration with one of the genre’s “masters”, J Balvin: judging by the atmosphere, it really does seem as though summer will never end.
Hip-hop fans will surely have noticed the nonsensical rap by Lalala (Y2K and bbno) It shot to the top of the Spotify charts back in July, but it’s still a massive hit at our parties. It’s particularly interesting because of this hybrid pop-hip-hop style! It’s not a dance track, but it’s still in high demand (in any case, a few dance remixes have come out, including the Miami Rockets & Nicola Fasano Remix, which means we can play it to get you dancing too!). And we’ll finish with something from our own country: I Wanted to Dedicate This to You , the result of a collaboration between Rocco Hunt and the ever-present J-Ax & Boomdabash. With this trio, success is guaranteed – perfect for dancing and singing along to (we’ve been asked to play them a lot at children’s birthday parties).

As we always point out, in this post we have only mentioned the latest releases; when it comes to a party, the revival (with varying degrees of importance, depending on the type of guests and the birthday boy or girl’s tastes: no “off-the-shelf” events!). Obviously, an 18th birthday party will focus more on the latest trends than a 50th birthday party, but… we’ve put together some very “modern and on-trend” DJ sets for quite a few 50-year-olds and, conversely, included a fair bit of retro music for 20-year-olds, so… never say never!
