50 Years of Passions: a journey through time at Villa Necchi Portalupa

Villa Necchi Portalupa, an architectural gem on the outskirts of Milan, has been decked out for a special birthday: 50 years of life, of passions and successes. An extraordinary event that we had the privilege of providing the music for, transforming its splendid garden into an open-air dance floor beneath a starry sky.

It all started a few weeks ago, when we were contacted by Isabella, the partner of Vincenzo. With infectious enthusiasm, he told us about his dream: to give Vincenzo (a former DJ who specialised in house music – it was a pleasure to chat with him!) and all the guests an unforgettable evening, a veritable musical time machine. Our first meeting immediately made it clear to us that we’d be working on something special, with a playlist crafted down to the smallest detail to get everyone dancing, from the youngest to the most seasoned.

The evening was a musical journey spanning three unforgettable decades. I organised it, Jody Belli, and my trusty colleague of many years, Mr Ricky. We got the guests dancing to the tunes that have shaped our history. We kicked off with a sophisticated aperitif set, which paid homage to the funk of the ’the 1970s, before moving on to the staples of aperitifs… the 90s, such as Moloko.

Then, as evening fell, the atmosphere really heated up with the most unforgettable, danceable and wild hits in the 1990s, the dance hits that have made history, such as “Rhythm Is a Dancer” by Snap! or “What Is Love” by Haddaway; every track was chosen to evoke a particular emotion. The evening was a crescendo of energy and fun, with all the guests letting their hair down on the dance floor, immersed in the magical atmosphere of Villa Necchi.

CUTTING THE CAKE
The highlight of the evening was, without a doubt, the cutting of the cake. A moment of pure emotion, set to music and lights. Immediately afterwards, to break the ice and really get everyone involved, we took a break to Happy Italian Music, with songs to sing along to at the top of our voices, from “50 Special” to “It must be because I love you” by Ricchi e Poveri. Mr Ricky, with his energy and lively presence at the microphone, managed to engage every single guest, turning the evening into a real family celebration.

FEW… BUT GOOD!

A party doesn’t necessarily need hundreds of guests to be unforgettable. What really matters is attention to detail, passion and professionalism. At this intimate evening, with around 25 people, the atmosphere was electric, and all the guests had as much fun as if they were at a huge festival. It just goes to show that, if you put your heart into it, any party – even the smallest one – can become an event to remember forever.

It was an honour to celebrate this milestone with a special person and their loved ones, creating unforgettable memories in such a picturesque setting. The passion and love that Isabella put into organising the party for Vincenzo was infectious and made our work all the more rewarding.
