DJ4 doubles its social impact: Sapre and WheelChairGP

Last updated on: 4 July 2022

When the world of entertainment supports social initiatives: here we are again this year, ready to get things off to a flying start and to support with our music (and our sound system) the skills challenge between very young electric wheelchair racers, at the Novegro Fair, on Sunday 8 October, as part of “Bimbi in fiera”. The project, which we at DJ4 we are sponsor since 2015, it has been WheelChairGP, born of Michele Sanguine’s dynamic imagination and having grown rapidly in a very short space of time. Today, WheelChairGP is a fully-fledged Grand Prix featuring people with neuromuscular conditions racing in their wheelchairs. Michele remains at the helm, supported by a highly organised team.

This year, for the second time, WheelchairGP organised an exciting timed challenge on an indoor course, in collaboration with the Sapre (Early Parental Empowerment Unit), an organisation that has been supporting the families of young children with SMA for many years. Sapre, which was set up within Milan’s Ospedale Maggiore, is aimed at the parents of children with the condition, to help them cope independently with everyday life – which is not always easy to manage – outside hospital settings.

The meeting between Sapre and WheelchairGP It made for an afternoon of music and fun, which we at DJ4 We had the honour of providing commentary with a selection of tracks that was as fast-paced and dynamic as the race itself, highlighting key moments such as the prize-giving ceremony. The winner was the very young Lorenzo Salvaderi, with a time of 00:40:68.
